SCBX Achieves Leadership Level in Climate Change Disclosure, Earns Place on CDP’s A-List

SCBX has been evaluated at Leadership Level for climate change disclosure and ranked in the A-List for 2024 by CDP (formerly known as Carbon Disclosure Project), a global non-profit organization that operates the world’s largest and most comprehensive environmental disclosure system. This recognition reflects SCBX’s commitment to driving organizational sustainability and effectively managing climate change impacts.

In 2024, CDP assessed more than 24,800 organizations worldwide, ranking them from level D- to A based on criteria for environmental disclosure and integration of sustainability concepts into business models. SCBX’s A-List placement demonstrates the organization’s commitment to implementing effective climate strategies alongside transparent disclosure practices.

Mr. Sathian Leowarin, Chief Sustainability Officer of SCB X Public Company Limited (SCBX), said, “As Thailand’s leading financial technology group, SCBX recognizes its responsibility to lead in greenhouse gas emission reduction, encompassing both SCBX Group’s operations and supporting our clients in their transition toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Being assessed at Leadership Level for climate change and included in CDP’s A-List reinforces our commitment to driving SCBX Group’s sustainability strategy through our targets of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions from our operations by 2030 and from lending and investment activities by 2050.”

The CDP assessment results stem from SCBX’s progress in various areas, including climate risk and opportunity assessment, setting and monitoring near-term emission targets, as well as developing sector strategy for decarbonization and green transition to reduce both direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, SCBX has recently received official validation for its near-term greenhouse gas reduction targets from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), making it the first financial institution in Thailand to achieve this validation.

Simon Fischweicher, Chief Delivery Officer of CDP, disclosed that “As the founder of environmental reporting, CDP is dedicated to building a world where people, planet and profit are truly balanced. We greatly appreciate the support of SCBX in our efforts to continue pioneering transparency; powering corporate environmental action. Transparency drives action at all levels. Within two years of an investor request, companies disclosing through CDP reduce their direct emissions by 7-10%. Disclosure is far more than a box to tick. It’s a tool to see clearly, act decisively and create change. If we are to solve the environmental crisis, disclosure data must be a tool every organization – large or small – has in their kit. Transparent disclosure holds the key, meaning that now this commitment from SCBX is more important than ever. With the support of SCBX we can collect the data needed to surface new information, enabling you to make Earth-positive decisions to protect future generations.
