CP Axtra Public Company Limited (SET: CPAXT), the owner of Makro and Lotus’s, partners with PTT Group led by PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (SET: PTTGC) and PTT Public Company Limited (SET: PTT). The partnership, under the Petrochemical and Refining Integrated Synergy Management Project (PRISM), establishes the “AXTRA Green Together” Project to drive Thailand waste management, and promote sustainable plastic waste reduction.
The project highlight CPAXT as Thailand leader in waste management, which entails the installation of used PET plastic in Makro and Lotus shopping mall. The PETs will then enter the recycle and upcycle process through the GC YOUเทิร์น (GC Youturn) platform, and turn into sport shirts for students across Thailand.
This project will not only reduce plastic wastes, but also celebrate the global Recycle Day, and fostering environmental consciousness. The initiative aligns with CPAXT goal of eliminating landfill by 2030, and PTT goal of reaching net zero emission.
Siripron Dechasingh, Chief Sustainability Management and Corporate Communications Officer of CPAXT stated that the company strives toward a goal of good corporate governance under ESG principle, promoting circular economy through elimination of landfill and plastic packaging.
Chananchida Vibunkanarak, Deputy Chief Strategist of PTTGC said that the company is delighted to partake in AXTRA Green Together, as the company saw the initiative as one important step to cultivate and encourage proper trash separation, to reduce the amount of trash from upstream.
WasteBuy Delivery, the company specialize in trash recycling logistic and one of GC Youturn partner, will transport PET from CPAXT’s shopping malls to be process by Envicco, PTTGC’s producer of world class rPET and rHDPE recycled plastic pellet.
