Dr. Natarika Wayuparb Nitiphon, Deputy Executive Director of the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO), joined Mr. Akarin Prathuangsit, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of WHA Utilities and Power Public Company Limited (SET: WHAUP), for a commemorative photo at the event. WHAUP participated in the official commitment ceremony for Phase 2 of the Industrial Greenhouse Gas Target-Setting Initiative Towards Net Zero Using Science-Based Targets, reaffirming its dedication to sustainability and climate action.
Mr. Akarin represented WHAUP as one of 23 leading organizations signing this milestone agreement, organized by TGO in collaboration with the Center of Excellence in Eco-Energy from Thammasat University’s Faculty of Engineering. The initiative underscores a shared commitment to setting industry-specific emission reduction targets in line with Science Based Target to drive Thailand’s transition to a low-carbon future.
WHAUP’s Commitment to Climate Action and Net Zero
Recognizing the urgency of climate change, WHAUP is committed to integrating environmental sustainability into its business expansion. The company plays a key role in managing greenhouse gas emissions within the utilities and energy sectors, ensuring strict compliance with evolving national and international environmental regulations.
WHAUP has set a clear roadmap to achieve Net Zero Emissions by 2050, in alignment with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Its interim targets include 42% reduction in absolute Scope 1 & Scope 2 emissions by 2030, 73.7% reduction in Scope 3 emissions intensity per kWh by 2030, and 90% reduction in total emissions (Scope 1, 2 & 3) by 2050 compared to its 2021 baseline.
The company has already achieved carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions since 2021 and continues to drive emission reductions through its Circular Economy (CE) initiatives. These efforts focus on resource efficiency, recycling, promoting eco-friendly materials, and minimizing indirect emissions under Scope 3.

To further reinforce its net-zero ambition, WHAUP is expanding investments in green projects through a strategic three-pronged approach:
