Nopadej Karnasuta, Chief Executive Officer of Thailand Business and Industrial Solutions at B.Grimm Power Public Company Limited (SET: BGRIM), participated in the fourth Sustainability Week Asia organized by Economist Impact under the theme “From Idealism to Pragmatism.”
The event, held on March 25-26, 2025, at The Athenee Hotel Bangkok, brought together over 1,000 global sustainability leaders to delve into pivotal topics transforming the business sector, including achieving Net Zero emissions, sustainable energy transitions, the creation of a circular economy, and equitable resource management—all vital for fostering business growth amidst the rapidly evolving global landscape.
During the panel discussion, “Empowering the New Digital Ecosystem with Clean Energy,” Nopadej observed that in the current global energy environment, many industries are becoming increasingly digitized, surging demand for data storage and processing.
This shift has led to a sharp rise in energy consumption, particularly from the “data center” sector—a critical hub for cloud systems, artificial intelligence, and Generative AI digital services. These data centers are significant electricity consumers and contribute materially to carbon emissions.
B.Grimm Power, as a leading private power producer in Thailand, has embraced the vision of “Empowering the World Compassionately” and is committed to driving the transition to renewable energy, especially for data centers.
The Asia-Pacific data center market is expanding swiftly, especially within Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) across Rayong, Chonburi, and Chachoengsao provinces, which is witnessing 9% annual growth.
Key enablers of this trend include tax incentives, technology, strategic locations, strong infrastructure, skilled labor, and robust economic development—factors that make the region ideal as a digital business hub.
Nopadej outlined that sustainability in data center energy usage requires quality infrastructure, disaster-safe locations, and local partnerships for regulatory and infrastructure management.
B.Grimm Power particularly focuses on developing Green Data Centres, leveraging global partnerships to create integrated energy systems that combine renewable sources with smart grid and backup battery technology.
This improves grid stability and supports government policies to decarbonize the digital sector, fostering a sustainable future for Southeast Asia’s digital infrastructure.
As a private power sector leader, B.Grimm Power’s core success stems from delivering value to every community in which it operates. The company has consistently supported the “Little Scientists’ House” project, inspired by Germany’s “Haus Der Kleinen Forscher” and adapted for Thailand by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
This initiative introduces science education to children aged 3-6 and encourages B.Grimm employees to serve as “Mentor Scientists,” participating in training and activities with teachers across B.Grimm’s network of 138 local schools.
Over its 147-year history, B.Grimm’s commitment to compassionate business practices and its four core values—Positivity, Partnership, Professionalism, and Pioneering Spirit—has benefited Thai society greatly.
B.Grimm Power also hosted an Exclusive Gala Dinner at Crystal Hall A of The Athenee Hotel on March 25, 2025, where Nopadej conversed with renowned wildlife photographer Molly Ferrill on the theme “In Harmony with Compassion: a Brighter Future for Business, People, and Planet.”
The event featured a classical music performance by the RBSO orchestra, reflecting B.Grimm’s origins and steadfast pursuit of business endeavors that minimize social and environmental impact.
“Ingraining compassion at the heart of our business has been a core value since our inception. This philosophy continues to drive B.Grimm Power today, integrating sustainability into our strategies and prioritizing long-term societal impact over short-term profit. Our goal is to ensure business growth goes hand in hand with delivering value to our communities, anchored in responsibility and compassion,” Nopadej stated.
