Vietnam is moving forward to mandate social media users of both local and foreign platforms to verify their identity to combat online scams.
The state media announced on Monday that the government is preparing to put this action into law as a part of the Telecommunications Law Amendment by the end of this year. This will enable law enforcement agencies to track down scammers in social media platforms.
This law will also apply to foreign platforms such as Facebook, TikTok and YouTube. Both individual and organizational users will be subject to the law enforcement.
