Data centers, physical facilities that house and process a company’s digital data and computing equipment, are crucial to the daily functions of a business. Their design ensures security, reliability, and efficiency. They vary in size and types, which may range from onsite data centers to hyperscale and edge data centers.
Nvidia contributes significantly to this ecosystem by providing various chips designed for data centers, including the Nvidia H100, Tesla A100, and the soon-to-be-launched Blackwell platform scheduled for a launch soon. The Blackwell platform is set to replace the current Hopper platform and is tipped to dominate the high-end GPU market.
The Nvidia Blackwell chip is engineered for the energy-efficient handling of demanding workloads such as AI, analytics, 3D rendering among others. It is said that Nvidia’s chip capability can deliver up to 45% more performance in some AI and High-Performance Computing (HPC) tasks, making it a high-demand asset despite its premium pricing.
The Blackwell is primed for handling large language model inference workloads and is projected to find extensive applications in data processing, engineering simulation, electronic design automation, computer-aided drug design, and quantum computing. Its critical role in the future of artificial intelligence is unquestionable.
Although the Blackwell lineup was recently announced with limited production, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is optimistic that they will reach full-scale production.
Microsoft Azure wrote on X on October 8, stating that Microsoft Azure is the 1st cloud running Nvidia’s Blackwell system with GB200-powered AI servers.
Additionally, Nvidia said in the company’s earnings call after the announcement of its fiscal third-quarter 2025 on November 20 that Blackwell is now in the hands of all of its major partners that are working to bring up their data centers. The company noted that it is integrating Blackwell systems into the diverse data center configurations of its customers.
It is said that Nvidia is expecting an official launch of its Blackwell soon. There is a high chance that it will happen here in Thailand on December 4 as the CEO Jensen Huang is visiting Thailand to announce the partnership between Nvidia and Siam.AI Cloud as the kingdom’s first Nvidia Cloud Partner.
