Nvidia CEO Advocates for Thailand’s Leadership in AI Innovation

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang disclosed at the AI Vision for Thailand event hosted by Siam.AI CLOUD, emphasizing the significance of artificial intelligence (AI) in Thailand.

The CEO emphasized that countries cannot progress without artificial intelligence, commending Siam.AI for enabling Thai people to access AI technology through the development of Open Thai GPT. By breaking down the language barrier to technology access, this initiative allows the Thai people to utilize AI in their native language.

Huang highlighted that while system and program writing skills typically require English, AI technology allows the use of Thai, emphasizing the concept of “Thailand’s Sovereign AI,” as the native language is considered a national asset that should be leveraged by the Thai population.

Moreover, Huang discussed the distinctiveness of AI as a significant global breakthrough, emphasizing its ability to provide knowledge universally. AI has the capacity to comprehend all languages, facilitate translations between various languages, and convert images or videos into Thai. Looking ahead, there is potential for AI to even translate English into chemicals in the future.

However, AI still relies on human guidance and societal input to generate new knowledge. The crucial aspect is the integration of AI with humans and society. Acknowledging the widespread concern about safety, Huang highlighted the necessity for oversight and regulatory bodies to establish boundaries for its utilization. The primary obstacle lies in ensuring the practical applicability of AI technology.

Regarding investments in Thailand, Huang clarified that Nvidia’s aim is not to establish chip manufacturing facilities in the country. Instead, the focus is on supporting Thailand in the development of AI technology, transforming it into an asset accessible to all Thai individuals by fostering the growth of this ecosystem.

Additionally, Huang delved into the topic of reducing energy consumption from Data Centers and SuperAI, recognizing the substantial energy requirements involved. Nvidia is dedicated to the continual development of new chip models that are designed to be more energy-efficient than their predecessors.

Huang believes that Thailand’s commencement of developing “Sovereign AI” places the country in a strategically advantageous position in Southeast Asia and globally. By leveraging its unique culture, cuisine, tourism sector, and strengths in electronics and packaging industries. This AI development will drive the country forward.

Lastly, Huang addressed the US-China trade war, demonstrating optimism and expressing no concern. He highlighted that AI is a technology that will be essential globally, and when the time comes, AI will transcend any disputes, unifying its significance across nations.
