Elon Musk’s AI venture, xAI, has launched a new feature called Grok Studio for its chatbot, Grok, enabling users to edit and create documents as well as basic applications.
Announced on the platform X on Tuesday, this novel functionality is accessible to both free and premium users at Grok.com.
Grok Studio adds a dynamic aspect to user interaction, allowing the generation of documents, code, reports, and even browser-based games. According to an official statement from Grok’s account on X, the studio provides a collaborative environment where both the user and Grok can simultaneously work on content in a separate window.
This move positions Grok alongside other AI-powered chatbots that offer dedicated workspaces for software development and writing assignments. OpenAI, for instance, introduced comparable features with its Canvas tool for ChatGPT in October, following Anthropic’s pioneering effort with Artifacts for Claude.
Grok Studio offers functionalities similar to other canvas-style tools, such as HTML previews and the ability to execute code in programming languages like Python, C++, and JavaScript. However, its content is distinctly managed in a right-hand side window for user convenience.
A significant enhancement to Grok’s ecosystem is its newfound integration with Google Drive, facilitating seamless attachment of files from a Google Drive account directly into Grok prompts. This allows Grok to adeptly manage documents, spreadsheets, and slides, as confirmed by xAI, potentially making Grok Studio a more powerful tool for users seeking comprehensive AI-assisted productivity solutions.
